From the tender age of five Simon Taylor has been passionate about woodwork and he could often be found helping his father make furniture in his workshop. After leaving school Simon took a design and furniture-making course at Rycotewood College, Thame, and in his 2nd year he won the much-coveted ‘Craftsman of the Year’ award. During his time at college Simon learned about classic furniture with in-lay detail and decorative veneers, and it wasn’t long before he was working in antique restoration and embarking on designing and making furniture.

Today Simon runs Simon Taylor Furniture. Set deep in the heart of the Buckinghamshire countryside, the company creates and installs not only beautiful handmade kitchens but also bedrooms, bathrooms, studies and freestanding pieces.

So, what happens when you make contact with Simon Taylor Furniture? Firstly one of their designers will talk to you about your aspirations, needs and requirements and they will visit your home or look at your proposed plans and come up

with a design best suited to your needs. They will help you every step of the way, guiding you on the best style for your room, which wood or hand-painted finish to have, the most suitable worktops, appliances, taps and so on.

When the designer returns to the studio, plans and elevations are hand-drawn. At your next meeting, which is usually held at their showroom, a designer will present you with your individual design. Whilst at the showroom you are encouraged to take a tour of the workshop to see the quality of the products and to experience the attention to detail that their cabinetmakers put into every piece of furniture. Once you’re happy with the design, a team of experienced fitters will install your furniture and offer professional plumbing, electrical, lighting and tiling services.

You can rest assured that, as no two period properties are the same, the company’s skills are invaluable and unlevel walls, sloping ceilings and difficult spaces don’t daunt them.
