The beauty of being truly bespoke

The beauty of being truly bespoke

The strapline for our business is Truly Bespoke because every piece of furniture that we make is just that: truly bespoke. As specialists in bespoke handcrafted kitchens, we work closely with our clients to understand the architecture of their home, look at what they want to achieve and we ask questions of their lifestyle to understand exactly what they require. We then translate this information into a design, whether it is traditional, Shaker, industrial or contemporary. With Simon Taylor Furniture, no two kitchens are ever the same and that is something we are very proud of. Having a truly bespoke kitchen is like having a tailor-made suit or a couture dress created from scratch, where we will literally start by taking measurements and we will discuss all the details including the colours and materials you prefer. We will then draw the designs in accordance with your wishes and once you place the order, we then craft everything by hand in order present you with the finished article that is made to fit you and your home perfectly. We don’t feature furniture ranges on our website for one very good reason: we don’t make them. If a kitchen is part of a named collection then it has already been designed in advance and it will then be adjusted to suit the dimensions of your room. To us, that isn’t a bespoke kitchen; that is like buying a ready-made suit and then having it altered to your size. If you are considering having a kitchen that is unique to you and your home, please call us on 01296 488 207 or...
The top five surface trends for 2020

The top five surface trends for 2020

One of the advantages of being an independent bespoke furniture business is that we are not tied to any specific worksurface partners, so we can choose the right worktop to suit your needs and requirements, dependent on your kitchen design. This can be granite, quartz, marble, Corian, natural wood, or different stone finishes. Here are some of the worksurfaces and colours that are trending now that we have used in our recent kitchen projects: ICE WHITE Perfectly partnering with a contemporary Scandi-style grey gloss glass kitchen, this quartz worksurface by Quartzform in ‘Twinkle’ presents a cool ice white finish. The addition of the ice trough to accommodate wine and Champagne was specified in the design prior to fabrication. FLECKS OF COLOUR Granite is a perennial favourite in the kitchen and this Andromeda White granite is quarried in Sri Lanka. It has a beautiful natural hues and it can be flecked with spots of colour. It works very well when matched with hand-painted kitchens all other surfaces feature a single flat colour. CONCRETE FINISH To accompany a stylish contemporary stainless steel kitchen, the worksurface needed to be in a calm and neutral tone, yet have an industrial style finish. 30mm Topus Concrete by Caesarstone with double pencil edge was specified to provide an up to the minute look. POLISHED OAK A beautiful hand-painted Shaker kitchen looks stunning with a natural wood work surface. This project features an oak worksurface, which has a oiled finish to pick up the different natural colours and hues featured throughout the timber. DARK AND SENSUAL This beautiful veined Nero Marquina marble was specified for both...
In the curve with Simon Taylor Furniture

In the curve with Simon Taylor Furniture

Curved and circular furniture adds a sense of warmth and flow to the kitchen and can break up a linear layout. A curved or circular breakfast table at a different height level at the end of a rectangular island will provide a focal point and can be positioned so that it looks out to an area such as a garden – and it can work in both contemporary or traditional settings. Picking up on timber accents in tall cabinetry, a circular breakfast table can be featured in a number of different timbers and finishes, and special features can be included such as an end grain relief on the table top. Simon Taylor Furniture Celebrates 35 Years in Business

Simon Taylor Furniture Celebrates 35 Years in Business

We are delighted to be celebrating 35 years in business during in 2020. When I started Simon Taylor Furniture in 1985, I worked alone in a small shared workshop. Thanks to a few good connections that I had made at Rycotewood College, where I trained as a cabinetmaker, things took off quite quickly and I started to design and make kitchens for family friends and I also made fine furniture pieces for Linley. I was soon able to build my own large workshop and showroom at Cane End Works, in Bierton, where we remain to this day, and I was able to employ talented craftspeople to work for the company To mark our anniversary, we are going to be refurbishing our showroom into the spring and we will be adding new contemporary and Shaker kitchen displays featuring appliances from premium brands such as Gaggenau, Miele, Novy and Siemens, together with bathroom displays featuring suppliers including Villeroy and Boch and Perrin and Rowe. We will also be adding a new bedrooms range as well. We are also going to be updating our website and we will be enhancing our brand presence on social media. Please do follow Simon Taylor Furniture on Facebook and Instagram to keep up with our latest projects and news I would like to take this opportunity to thank my valued staff and colleagues here at Simon Taylor Furniture, our excellent hand-picked suppliers and also the very many clients that we have worked for over the past 35 years Simon Taylor, managing director, Simon Taylor...
