The beauty of being truly bespoke

The beauty of being truly bespoke

The strapline for our business is Truly Bespoke because every piece of furniture that we make is just that: truly bespoke. As specialists in bespoke handcrafted kitchens, we work closely with our clients to understand the architecture of their home, look at what they want to achieve and we ask questions of their lifestyle to understand exactly what they require. We then translate this information into a design, whether it is traditional, Shaker, industrial or contemporary. With Simon Taylor Furniture, no two kitchens are ever the same and that is something we are very proud of. Having a truly bespoke kitchen is like having a tailor-made suit or a couture dress created from scratch, where we will literally start by taking measurements and we will discuss all the details including the colours and materials you prefer. We will then draw the designs in accordance with your wishes and once you place the order, we then craft everything by hand in order present you with the finished article that is made to fit you and your home perfectly. We don’t feature furniture ranges on our website for one very good reason: we don’t make them. If a kitchen is part of a named collection then it has already been designed in advance and it will then be adjusted to suit the dimensions of your room. To us, that isn’t a bespoke kitchen; that is like buying a ready-made suit and then having it altered to your size. If you are considering having a kitchen that is unique to you and your home, please call us on 01296 488 207 or...
The top five surface trends for 2020

The top five surface trends for 2020

One of the advantages of being an independent bespoke furniture business is that we are not tied to any specific worksurface partners, so we can choose the right worktop to suit your needs and requirements, dependent on your kitchen design. This can be granite, quartz, marble, Corian, natural wood, or different stone finishes. Here are some of the worksurfaces and colours that are trending now that we have used in our recent kitchen projects: ICE WHITE Perfectly partnering with a contemporary Scandi-style grey gloss glass kitchen, this quartz worksurface by Quartzform in ‘Twinkle’ presents a cool ice white finish. The addition of the ice trough to accommodate wine and Champagne was specified in the design prior to fabrication. FLECKS OF COLOUR Granite is a perennial favourite in the kitchen and this Andromeda White granite is quarried in Sri Lanka. It has a beautiful natural hues and it can be flecked with spots of colour. It works very well when matched with hand-painted kitchens all other surfaces feature a single flat colour. CONCRETE FINISH To accompany a stylish contemporary stainless steel kitchen, the worksurface needed to be in a calm and neutral tone, yet have an industrial style finish. 30mm Topus Concrete by Caesarstone with double pencil edge was specified to provide an up to the minute look. POLISHED OAK A beautiful hand-painted Shaker kitchen looks stunning with a natural wood work surface. This project features an oak worksurface, which has a oiled finish to pick up the different natural colours and hues featured throughout the timber. DARK AND SENSUAL This beautiful veined Nero Marquina marble was specified for both...

In the curve with Simon Taylor Furniture

Curved and circular furniture adds a sense of warmth and flow to the kitchen and can break up a linear layout. A curved or circular breakfast table at a different height level at the end of a rectangular island will provide a focal point and can be positioned so that it looks out to an area such as a garden – and it can work in both contemporary or traditional settings. Picking up on timber accents in tall cabinetry, a circular breakfast table can be featured in a number of different timbers and finishes, and special features can be included such as an end grain relief on the table top. BACK FROM THE BACK AND FOURTH RALLY

BACK FROM THE BACK AND FOURTH RALLY

BACK FROM THE BACK AND FOURTH RALLY Team Thunderbolts raised more than £6,000 Over £30,000 has been collectively raised by all the teams A thank you from Simon In September, our managing director, Simon took time out of his busy schedule to raise money for the male cancer charity, Orchid on the Back and Fourth Rally. With his close friend Alan Hunt, managing director of County Construction driving as Team Thunderbolts, they purchased a Mini cooper Convertible for less than £1,000 (in accordance with the rules) and then they travelled 4,000 miles across Europe in a convoy with 10 other teams, all driving Mini Cooper Convertibles with the roof down in all weathers, again, in accordance with the rules of the Rally. The teams had to drive for a minimum of 21 hours per day. Following press support for Simon from leading KBB online and trade magazines, all the teams taking part made the national press and were featured in an article in The Sun newspaper. Having already exceeded their target of £2,000 of donations and sponsorships by the time set off on the route, Team Thunderbolts then kept in touch with everyone about their progress via their Just Giving page, Whatsapp and Linked-in. Five days later and by the time they reached the final city, Amsterdam, they had raised over £6,000, with donations from friends, clients, members of the KBB industry, suppliers, business competitors, and even from an actor with a knighthood. Simon has since been notified by Just Giving that he and Alan were in the top 1% out of 71,411 fundraisers for September. Simon and Alan...

Team Thunderbolts: Alan Hunt (left) and Simon Taylor with their Mini Cooper Convertible   ‘THUNDERBOLTS ARE GO’ FOR THE BACK AND FOURTH CHARITY RALLY Simon and his friend, Alan are raising money for the Orchid Charity in September 2019   Our managing director, Simon Taylor and his friend, Alan Hunt, managing director of County Construction are taking part in the Back and Fourth Rally in aid of Orchid, the charity that raises awareness of testicular and other male cancers. With every team name taken from a character in Marvel comics, theirs is Thunderbolts. For anyone wishing to find out more about the charity feel free to click the link https://orchid-cancer.org.uk/   In its fourth year, the Back and Fourth Rally starts on 16th September and ends on 22nd September 2019. It is a 4,000 mile European round trip starting in Calais and ending in Amsterdam via Rome, Athens, Zagreb, Sofia, Bucharest and Vienna. In order to take part, each team has to undertake a number of challenges: firstly to advance purchase a Mini Cooper convertible with full MOT for less than £1,000. When they arrive in Calais the teams then have to drive for 21 hours a day for the duration of the rally and whatever the weather conditions the soft top roof of the car must remain down for the entire journey. In July, Simon and Alan purchased their burnt orange Mini Cooper convertible. They are now seeking charity sponsorships from businesses and they have also set up a Just Giving fundraising page. We are delighted that our industry media has already shown support to the cause and here...
