Banquette & Bay Window Seating

There’s something very special about seating that’s custom-designed for your home. Bespoke design ensures that comfort and practicality go hand in hand while making the most of every inch. At Simon Taylor Furniture, everything we make is bespoke. No two projects are ever the same, so what we design and create for your home, will be totally unique.

A room with a view

We can design, make and install your storage seating or bespoke seating to suit both the space and your lifestyle. Take window seating – a perfect spot for rest, relaxation, reading a book or simply taking in the view, it utilises space in an unobtrusive and efficient way.

With under-seat storage an optional part of our design, an empty, unused alcove can be elegantly transformed into a comfortable and functional seating area that can incorporate drawers or a lift-up seat to conceal blankets, board games and books. it’s a wonderful space-saver and multipurpose addition to the living area, garden room, bedroom or kitchen.

Multifunctional designs

Banquette seating is another way of utilising space efficiently. It can incorporate built-in storage, either via lift-up seats or pull-out drawers beneath, and offers multifunctional use – for dining, a children’s homework or craft area, a cosy reading nook or ad-hoc home office. It can also help to zone your open-plan space and we can create in L-shape, U-shape or curved designs to suit your needs.

This handmade semi-circular bench seating beneath a bay window is part of a large bespoke kitchen and conceals radiators, with covers crafted from American Black Walnut and steel mesh grilles that allow for heat to flow fully around the room.

Open-plan entertaining

Bespoke banquette seating is a great way of creating extra space for guests in an open-plan kitchen-diner. Whether aligned against a wall, in a corner nook or adjoining an island, there’s plenty of room, whether entertaining or coming together for an everyday meal.

Shaker style

Having a table with an L-shaped banquette around two sides for example, offers more seating allowance than a standard table and chairs configuration. In this design for a former stately home, as well as the bespoke stained oak, brushed stainless steel and glass kitchen, we also designed and made the freestanding table to perfectly complement our banquette seating around it.

We also made the freestanding table and tongue-and-groove banquette storage seating with pull-out drawers to complement our Shaker kitchen design in this family home. We can create curved banquettes to fit snugly within the recess of a bay window and Shaker, classic or contemporary designs to complement the aesthetic and architecture of your home.

Sociable spaces

As well as making the most of space in a compact kitchen, a banquette can also enhance a large open-plan room, giving it a luxurious seating area perfect for entertaining. In this design, the dining zone effortlessly evolves from everyday family meals to hosting friends, with two wine cabinets within easy reach either side. Being incorporated on to one side of the island also enables the cook to chat with guests, creating a seamlessly sociable space for everyone to enjoy.
