Kitchen Trends: Stainless Steel

Kitchen Trends:
Stainless Steel
In an article titled ‘Steeling the Show’ in the Sunday Times on 15th September, journalist Victoria Brzensky highlighted that stainless steel has become a ‘runaway interiors hit’ for 2024 and is ‘bang on-trend… being ‘utilitarian, sleek and chic’.
At Simon Taylor Furniture, we have the knowledge and experience to design, make and install stainless steel bespoke kitchens. We also regularly work in Listed properties and we always respect the architecture of your home, and the fabric of the building.

A Bespoke Stainless Steel Kitchen By Simon Taylor Furniture
Our Purley bespoke kitchen project was designed by Tony Lister and it was made at our cabinet workshop in Bierton, Buckinghamshire. With stainless steel being the key component, it showcases how the material can be used to great effect. It was created for clients that live in a former stately home, where they had repurposed the drawing room into a kitchen. They loved the look of professional restaurant kitchens, but wanted softer elements for their own space, so we combined the metal elements with glass and used Stained Ash for the banquette seat in the centre of the room and as an accent. The challenge was the four-metre ceiling height so all tall cabinetry is three metres high to keep the perspective in the room.

Bespoke Stainless Steel Furniture
We designed bespoke tall cabinetry with stainless steel door fronts with steel-framed glazed top boxes. This conceals a wall of cooling appliances by Gaggenau that includes a larder fridge, tall freezer and a wine climate cabinet. To the other side of the central stained-glass cabinet, there are housings for a bank of Gaggenau Vario 400 ovens next to storage cabinets. Glazed overhead steel cabinetry features lighting at the base for use as task lighting over the Gaggenau stainless steel cook centre beneath, which includes downdraft extraction. The base cabinets have stainless steel fronts blended with drawer fronts made from stained ash.
Bespoke Stainless Steel Bar Cabinet
To the left of the dining area is a tall bespoke bar cabinet that features a central section that opens using pocket doors that slide into side recesses. This reveals shelving for bottles and cocktail accessories, beneath an integrated slimline TV. The location of the cabinet, directly opposite the banquette seating, allows the family to watch TV when having supper. There is a separate dining room in this home for formal entertaining. Above are more stainless steel top boxes for storing less-used items and beneath are three deep drawers for keeping napkins and tablecloths, cutlery sets and table mats.
