What is a Waterfall Island?

A waterfall island is usually centrally located within a kitchen and it gets its name because the worktop material continues down either side of the island to give it a seamless and stylish modern look.

This style works best in contemporary kitchens where the island is the focus of the room, and with the use of a dramatic stone surface material. It also works with other textured elements such as wood, laminates or fluted glass. For the best aesthetic, the thickness of the worktop should be the same as the side panels.
