A light and modern design in natural maple

We were appointed to design and make a functional kitchen in a modern property built in the 20th Century which included a full refurbishment of the kitchen area together with new flooring. The house benefits from lots of natural light and our clients wanted a pale timber kitchen to provide a sense of space so we handmade all the cabinetry in natural maple, which has a lovely detailed grain. For all corners we added three-quarter turned pilasters with panelled end panels so there was a flow throughout the design. We used stainless steel bar handles which match perfectly with the chrome butt hinges used for the framed inset doors that are glass-fronted and backlit to display all glassware within.

Cutlery drawers are dovetailed and we also included a double-door cupboard that opens to reveal two chrome-sided pull-out drawers to house plates and crockery. All appliances are by Miele – a bank of ovens was installed within tall cabinetry close to the induction hob and cooker hood. The integrated fridge and freezer were concealed behind cupboard doors and laundry appliances were fitted side by side. The dark Impala granite work surface contrasts perfectly with the pale wood, which in turn, seamlessly complements the porcelain floor tiles. The undermount sink is by Astracast and the chrome tap is by Grohe.
